Not only that, the Google-owned video sharing platform has also enabled people to turn their hobby of producing videos into a part-time or full-time job — courtesy of the YouTube partner programme. YouTube, which begun operations in 2005 and was later acquired by Google, has fast emerged to be the most popular community for people sharing and watching videos. While there are numerous people who achieve fame and are lauded by the audience on the platform, not everyone has the same luck with their audience. A lot many others get disliked by a wide range of audience and here we list out the 10 most disliked YouTube videos till date.
Justin Bieber – Baby ft. Ludacris
Dislikes: 7,498,938; Likes: 6,155,824; Views: 1, 582,629,466 Watch the video here. This one needs no introduction and is by far the most disliked video on YouTube. The lyrics are awesome and Justin Bieber’s voice is at its melodious best — only if Ludacris didn’t spoil the mood of the video — I’m sure it would’ve received a billion likes. Yes, really! Not.
Official Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Reveal Trailer
Dislikes: 3,495,374; Likes: 572,196; Views: 37,651,323 Watch the video here. FPS Gamers haven’t been impressed by Call of Duty franchise in the recent years primarily due to their constant liking of the sci-fi futuristic warfare storyline and to counter them, Battlefield 1 with World War storyline impressed — guess people are looking for something real and relatable on video games these days too.
PewDiePie – Can This Video Get 1 Million Dislikes?
Dislikes: 2,943,222; Likes: 196,558; Views: 10,340,167 Watch the video here. One of the highest rated YouTubers in the platform’s history created this video and to answer the question presented by his video’s title — yes this video did get a million dislikes; even better, it now has close to 3 million dislikes. In the video, PewDiePie gets to know about the secret to fame via Google — the more dislikes you get, more renowned and powerful you become. PewDiePie has been having some gloomy moments in his life due to a video he uploaded but at least he made it to our list of most disliked YouTube videos — power, aye!
Rebecca Black – Friday
Dislikes: 2,579,720; Likes: 670,735; Views: 106,715,723 Watch the video here. Another teenage song makes it to the dislike list from another teenager — at the time of making the video. Rebecca Black is still going strong as a YouTube but puts up much better content — both video blogs and music — than this one and doesn’t garner as much hatred now.
Aruan Felix- Cortando O Botao Do YouTube
Dislikes: 2,304,732; Likes: 711,530; Views: 24,020,503 Watch the video here. The video’s title translates into ‘Cutting the YouTube Button’. And the Brazilian YouTuber who at the time was awarded a silver YouTube plaque — given to YouTubers with more than 100,000 subscribers — really did cut his silver YouTube button into half. It’s hard to digest that he would destroy the hard-earned award so easily but he’s north of 4.5 million subscribers at the moment, so it doesn’t matter I guess.
Psy – Gangnam Style
Dislikes: 1,742,271; Likes: 12,301,413; Views: 2,804,097,941 Watch the video here. Another video which became an internet sensation overnight and turned viral — first video to hit a billion views mark — is Korean music producer Psy’s Gangnam Style. The song is far more popular and liked than it’s disliked and the latter is probably because excess of anything is bad and Gangnam’s popularity led it being played at all times everywhere which can get slightly irritating.
Jacob Sartorius – Sweatshirt
Dislikes: 1,654,676; Likes: 610,366; Views: 41,656,750 Watch the video here. Sartorius became famous for uploading videos of him lip-syncing to famous tracks and his eventual popularity led him to release this teenage love song which will give you some ‘nostalgia’ as well as a laugh.
Miley Cyrus – Wrecking Ball
Dislikes: 1,365,551; Likes: 3,578,859; Views: 878,289,250 Watch the video here. Miley Cyrus has rampantly changed her image from the innocent-looking teen in the TV show Hannah Montana to this new audacious being we see today and unlike her other video which is next on the list, this one talks about failing relationships.
Miley Cyrus – We Can’t Stop
Dislikes: 1,298,412; Likes: 2,797,062; Views: 755,534,793 Watch the video here. Another one of Miley Cyrus’ not-so-amazing music video which talks about partying and drugs, and doesn’t fail to hit the explicit meter.
Nicki Minaj – Anaconda
Dislikes: 1,315,683; Likes: 2,990,158; Views: 669,523,397 Watch the video here. It comes as no surprise that Anaconda has made it to the list, given its soulful lyrics about big behinds which are represented in the video in a healthy dose. Seven of the top 10 most disliked videos on YouTube are music videos and that doesn’t come as a surprise as music videos are also the most viewed ones on the platform.
